When you have bread that is going stale, fry it. Use different herbs, spices and other flavourings. A few possibilities:

– butter, rosemary and pepper

– butter and honey

– cheese (parmesan is good) and butter

Place the slices of bread on top of the fat as soon as it is melted, don’t wait for it to be brown or even hot.

Goes with any meal, really. Put a slice of something under the sauce for dinner, for example.
